Debra Stout Tewalt Appointed New CEO of Bethel Home and Services

July 22, 2017 – Bethel Home and Services has announced the appointment of Debra Stout-Tewalt as its new CEO as of July 10. Stout-Tewalt took over as interim CEO in April when Clark Nordberg tendered his resignation after more than 20 years of service to Bethel Home and the community.

Stout-Tewalt has been part of the Bethel Home team for 37 years, beginning as a social worker before being promoted to Director of Community Services. During that time she was responsible for the development of numerous programs, including Bethel Oaks Memory Care, Coulee View Apartments in Coon Valley, Bethel Butikk Thrift Store and Food Pantry in Westby, Maplewood Terrace, Bethel Parkside in La Farge, Care Cove Adult Daycare, Bethel Village in Cashton, Bethel House, Bethel Elderhjem and the nursing home’s rehab center.

“Debra did an outstanding job as Interim CEO and we are very impressed with her passion and dedication to Bethel Home and Services,” said Board President Joe McDonald. “Debra always stresses it is a team effort and we can tell she is very proud of the ‘Bethel Team’ she will be leading.”

During this time of transition, Bethel Home is busier than ever. The corporation is currently gearing up for a new phase of construction to expand Bethel Oaks Memory Care. This addition will include 14 private rooms, a dining and activity room, living room, private dining or conference area, gazebo, and a Snoezelen room (a multi-sensory environment providing therapy for people with dementia, brain injury, autism and other developmental disabilities). Additionally, Bethel Home will begin construction to add units to the Bethel Birchwood independent living duplexes. Groundbreaking for both new construction projects will begin in the fall of 2017, with openings planned for the summer of 2018.

“This is an exciting time,” Stout-Tewalt said. “The future holds an opportunity for us to build upon our strong foundation. We will keep faithful to our mission, those we serve, and the community that supports us.”
